Boats & Caravans
The land lying to the south of Friars Court is bordered by a mile-long stretch of the River Thames, both the river and its associated wildlife are an attraction for walkers, boaters, fisherman and caravaners. Frances Willmer established the riverside caravan sites at Friars Court over forty years ago and the Island CL is the only site of its kind on the banks of the Thames in Oxfordshire. The three-acre Island is registered with the Caravan & Motorhome Club as a 'five van' Certificated Location (CL).
On the north side of the Island CL is an old backwater which is now used as permanent boat moorings.
A ¼ of a mile downriver is the secluded three-acre Cricket Bat Field, bordered on two sides by the River Thames, which can accommodate individual caravans, organised groups and rally's of up to thirty units.
Both sites have access to a drinking water tap. Rubbish bins and an elsan disposal point are located in the Island CL. There is no electricity hook-up.
The Island CL and Cricket Bat Field are open from late spring until autumn, subject to weather conditions. Coarse fishing is permitted from the 16th of June, anglers should take note in addition to a national rod license they also need a local license which can be purchased on arrival.
Members of the Caravan and Motorhome Club only are allowed to stay on either site. Camping and tents are not permitted.
A two-minute walk from the Island CL is the riverside pub Ye Olde Swan. Lunchtime and evening meals served, dog friendly. Please visit the Ye Olde Swan website for more information.

2021 caravan site fees
The site will reopen in April 2021 (subject to weather and ground conditions)

+ £1.00 for an awning
