School Visits

In September 2012 Friars Court was granted Higher Level Stewardship status by Natural England and grant aid funding enables schools to visit the farm free of charge (minimum of 6 pupils & adults, maximum of 50).

A school visit can include a guided tour around the grounds of Friars Court where children can see and learn about;

  • solar energy (the farm has three PV arrays generating 45 kWs of electricity)
  • wetland habitats
  • water-meadows
  • woodlands
  • farming

In addition to the large car park there is a hard standing yard with plenty of turning space for a coach and lawns for picnics (undercover shelter is also available). Toilet facilities include;

  • two ladies cubicles with a washbasin
  • two urinals and a gentleman’s cubicle with a washbasin
  • wheelchair access toilet with a washbasin Please note that children may have to walk across farm tracks or through long grass. Sensible footwear such as wellington boots is highly recommended.
